That pokey-out bit stuck on the left-hand-side of England, above Cornwall. First invaded circa 1064 under Harold Godwinson, sovereignty reinforced by William the Conqueror. Several failed revolts by the Welsh around the 15th century. Became part of the UK in 1707, and we've mostly been friends since.
